Amber Love 14-AUG-2012 If you’ve missed the announcements about the release dates for the SHAKESPEARE SHAKEN anthology, head to RedStylo.com for the roll out schedule. I know there’s a lot of bonus content going into the digital versions; but unless you want the creators to sign your Kindle cover, consider picking up a printed version too.
*A full episode of VODKA O’CLOCK with the editor/publisher will be out August 23, 2012 so you can learn even more about it!
I’ve tried to combine my past blog posts about the project into one hub as a WordPress “Page” which is different from a post in that it appears in the upper navigation menus instead of accessible via searches through tags and categories and whatever else makes WordPress complicated. The hub has more details, some of my notes from my out of this work thinking process, and ordering information.
What you need to know about No.130, For Love by me and Kristen McHugh:
* The artwork is glorious and all of it was done by Jhazmine Ruiz.
* It’s 8 pages, full color.
* The visual genre for our story is steampunk.
* The story is romance first, action second.
* It’s best suited for Teen+ audiences (skimpy attire, no harsh language or sexual content shown but it’s about a demi-goddess choosing a suitable mate).
Curious about the source material Kristen and I used for inspiration? It’s a quick read unlike the plays.
SONNET 130:
My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips’ red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask’d, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
