28-DEC-2011 By now you’ve read through my previous post about who I would cast in a JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK movie. Here’s what I came up with for a soundtrack not including things that would inevitably be musical score played over the movie. This is more character-specific for themes.
One of the things I loved about BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER show and the SPIDER-MAN movies were the alternative albums with music that might have only been heard for a second or two in a bar scene or maybe not at all but they were good songs befitting those universes.
I could have very easily made an entire FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE soundtrack. They are most definitely one of the greatest things in modern music. I describe them as Enya for the Cool Kids That Don’t Want to be Put to Sleep. Flo can be ethereal and rock out. She’s got a bit of Stevie Nicks in her wardrobe and Adele in her voice; but her drum beats are something solely her own.
Then an obscure band was chosen for what I called the Main Titles. You probably know them and don’t know that you know them. It’s THE FRIENDLY INDIANS who are the band behind the theme to the television show PSYCH created by Steve Franks. Franks is also in The Friendly Indians so when the show got the greenlight by USA Network and needed a theme song, he wrote and had his own band perform it.
