JOY TANEY, MULTI-TALENTED ARTIST
Joy has a background with every kind of art possible from performing in bands to murals and bodypainting to making comics. Joy always had a connection to art having been raised by parents who had a band and lived on tour. Her parents’ band, the Juggernaut String Band, were “the†school band for the weeks when students learned square dancing – her dad on the banjo and her mom with the fiddle.
“It should be a well paying enough thing where it’s not just a labor of love to go into the arts.†~Joy Taney
We discussed the incredible synergy that happens when a talented artist couples with a person who is more business-minded like the Moores, Frazettas and H.R. Giger and his several wife/assistants.
As a color artist, Joy is grateful that they are finally being given credits on the cover of comics. We talked about impostor syndrome and ego.
- Anne Elizabeth’s Zombie Powers 3
- Worked on Sonic Boom comics by Archie Comics
- Joy will have some TV news, but we couldn’t talk about it, so be sure to follow her feeds for announcements.
TIME MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH MAINTENANCE
Regarding time management, Joy stays old school and maintains her schedule with a day planner or paper calendar.
“I definitely prioritize. But, I also try to treat myself as a human where it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get to all eleven bullet points on my To Do list or something and have things that can be bumped over to the next day or something. I’ve seen a lot of people work themselves sick.†~Joy
Joy was disabled for 12 years of her life and has found a regime that helps her have this life. Mural painting is so physically demanding that it’s been another way for Joy to keep in shape and keep her pain under control.
DEFINING STYLE
“The subject of my art is often not necessarily what you can see in the art, but what’s in the subject’s head.†~Joy Taney

POSITIVE THOUGHTS
“The best and the worst things that are gonna happen to you are gonna be what’s unexpected so just be ready to take those opportunities when you’re in a good place and time to do it.†~Joy Taney
