MILWAUKIE, Ore., (December 16, 2024)—Dark Horse Comics presents Arcana Royale, a new four-issue comic series from Cullen Bunn and A.C. Zamudio. Written by Bunn (Harrow County, Beyond Mortal), illustrated by Zamudio (The Sixth Gun: Valley of Death, Shadow Roads), colored by Bill Crabtree (If You Find This, I’m Already Dead, Sixth Gun), and lettered by Josh Reed (Where Monsters Lie: Cull-De-Sac, Christmas 365), this thrilling supernatural series arrives spring 2025.

Hudson Tremaine is a streetwise gambler who has siphoned money from every high-stakes game in Vegas. She’s made a name for herself, but she’s also made more than a few enemies in the gambling underworld. When she’s invited to play in the most underground card tournaments of all–the Arcanos Mysterinos—she realizes the stakes are higher than she ever imagined possible.

Imagine a clandestine poker tournament where magicians, demons, and demigods gamble using a set of mysterious tarot-like cards. These games shape the fate of the world—of many worlds—for good or ill. This game has always been played in secret, hidden from the prying eyes of mortals.

Until now.

Hudson has always been willing to bet on herself, but playing for the fate of all humanity is something she never anticipated!

Arcana Royale has been in the works for a while now, and I’m excited for people to get to read it,” said Bunn. “This is a story about controlling your own fate (even if you have to cheat a little) in the face of overwhelming odds. There’s a little bit of Hudson Tremaine… or at least there should be… in each and everyone of us.”

“It’s my pleasure to escort you through the world of Cullen’s imagination in Arcana Royale where we get to play with the sublime alchemy that connects the glamor of Las Vegas and the darkness of the arcane,” added Zamudio. “I’m also elated to present my first full collaboration with Bill. He and I both jumped into this project with a shared vision and some bold new techniques to bring it to life.”

The game begins on April 23, 2025 when Arcana Royale #1 (of 4) hits comic shop shelves! Issue #1 is now available to pre-order from your local comic shop for $4.99.

Praise for Cullen Bunn:

“The Sixth Gun is weird western done right. Cullen Bunn makes a near perfect comic arc with this first volume as it shows you all you need to know about the characters and story while being perfectly paced out.”—Comic Book Daily

“Only Cullen Bunn could create a cosmic Brady Bunch of abominations this ass-kicking. Beyond Mortal heralds the battle between eldritch and spandex, old gods and new superheroes.”—Clay McLeod Chapman (What Kind of Mother, Creepshow, Séance in the Asylum)

“Harrow County is the finest example of modern horror comics. It’s decidedly beautiful horror, a genre we get less and less of with each passing day. Don’t miss it.”—Bloody Disgusting

“Packing the punch of a great Stephen King short-story, scribe Cullen Bunn has delivered a one shot that will get under your skin.”—Comicbook.com, A Foulness in the Walls
