02-FEB-2012 Returning in full swing to find backers, Vaquera Films just launched their 30 day Kickstarter campaign to get their movie completed and into festivals.
WONDER WOMEN! THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICAN SUPERHEROINES is the new name of the Wonder Woman documentary featuring the most powerful women in America. Previously, it was called THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE AS TOLD BY WONDER WOMAN. The new branding of the documentary and the latest Kickstarter description seem to imply that is now covering role models of fictional and real origins in America. The movie “reminds us of our common human need for stories that tell us we can all be heroes.” (Kickstarter description).
WONDER WOMEN! THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICAN SUPERHEROINES traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s, to the blockbusters of today, WONDER WOMEN! looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation.
To date we’ve interviewed many articulate and dynamic women such as activists Gloria Steinem and Shelby Knox, actresses Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), and punk rock star Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill & Le Tigre), as well as many others who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male-dominated superhero genre.
